Here spring, spring, spring...

What do you know.... it's raining. Who'd have thought - in my haste to beat the winter blues of Melbourne - I'd end up somewhere wetter. Not necessarily colder though, which is a good thing. Nothing interesting done today. It rained *surprise* so we pretty much stayed inside. A quick trip to the shopping centre and a hasty visit to the upstairs neighbours. Dad is away and the kids were happy to bum around the apartment. Yes, OK, I bribed them with pre-packaged, salt filled, sugar laden foods. My bad. That said, they are both sound asleep. Harriet sounding like a tractor with her 'never far away' snotty nose and Milly protesting even as I put her into bed through closed eyes and groggy vocal cords, "but Mum, I'm really not tired yet, don't put me into b......." SNOOOORE.

Now, I am going to eat too many chocolate biscuits (to justify complaining about the size of my arse) and go strip some wall paper off the soon-to-be rumpus room walls. I have a new nemesis. WALLPAPER. Ick.

Sea Change

We have arrived.

I can't hardly describe the past month. Hectic, chaotic, demanding and draining. The rush to finish all we could before departing to Sydney has really taken its toll on both my mental health and my physical being! My calouses are only peeling from my hands now and my bruises are finally almost gone. I painted, plastered, fixed, filled, nailed, sanded, dug, paved, chopped and mopped. I don't think I've physically worked that hard for years. Then, once I was done with all the renovating, I had to pack the house. Then I had to clean the house. Unfortunately, the cleaning fell slightly short of the mark. My neighbour, God bless her, helped me paint, sand, pack and clean for 3 weeks running. She was and is totally selfless. I'm really going to miss their wonderful family. She had the sense to start cleaning the kitchen as I was packing or painting various rooms. "Leave it Bec" I'd say, she'd reply "You don't want to be doing this once everything's gone" and by gosh she was right!

Once the removalists left I picked up the paintbrush and painted the splashback, then a quick spurt of lino-laying and my job was complete. I locked up the house and kissed Footscray goodbye....

I miss our house. I miss our kitchen. Living in an apartment is going to test us all I think. We're used to having some space, a backyard and freedom to do what we want to (park where we want to) without having to have permission!!! Still, we're half a block from the beach - I shouldn't complain.

Dee Why is lovely. Everything is within walking distance, shops, school, childcare. Now I just need a job and some warm weather. It's rained so much since we got here I was beginning to think we'd made a mistake. Today the sun was shining and it was lovely. There are 3 other little girls in the building and they, along with my 2 were all playing on their push bikes together just before lunch. It was really lovely. The other 2 Mums are pregnant so soon there'll be 7 children in this block of 6 units. Not a bad average!!!

I've taken some pics of our delightful little cottage in Footscray, I'll have to upload them, one day!
